What You Need To Know For Your Pet's Surgery Day

Drop-Off Time:

Our drop-off period is 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. Admitting your pet early in the day ensures adequate time for surgical preparation. Please allow 10-15 minutes to check in. You will need to sign a release form and leave daytime contact information. An estimate for the cost of the procedure will be explained to you if you have not yet received one.

Fasting:

Please withhold food after 10 p.m. The evening before surgery. Water can be left down overnight, but please take it away by 7:00 a.m. Do not give any medications the morning of surgery unless directed to do so by the veterinarian.

Procedure time:

Though we would like to give you a particular time when you pet will have their procedure done, the schedule order is determined by a number of factors, and we try to accommodate individual owner requests as much as possible. You will receive a call from the technician once your patient is out of recovery.

Discharge:

When the technician calls you after your pet's procedure, they will let you know what time your pet should be ready. During discharge you will receive detailed instructions explaining the type of care that your pet will require at home during recovery. A technician will go through the instructions with you, and answer any questions that you may have. Please allow 30 minutes for discharge.

Overnight Stay:

It is very rare that we hospitalize your pet overnight. We believe your pet will be more comfortable at home in familiar surroundings. They may be tired as would be expected after an anesthetic procedure, but pets are alert and fully mobile when they leave.
